Dixie Youth Baseball Opens 56th Season

Charlotte County officially opened its 56th Dixie Youth Baseball Season on Saturday, April 27, in Charlotte Court House in perfect baseball weather. More exciting opening ceremonies will be held in Phenix (May 10) and Wylliesburg (May 3) in the coming weeks. Eight games were played throughout the day with hundreds of fans, players and coaches in attendance. Adult participants carried on a strong Charlotte County tradition of working with our area youth to build leadership, character and teamwork traits. Youth participants were obviously already well on their way to polishing fundamentals, implementing lessons learned, and being good teammates. Rick Mann was on hand to deliver a stunning rendition of the National Anthem. Then Greg Vassar was asked to throw out the first pitch this season in honor of his many years coaching with special emphasis on his years at the third base coaching position for three Charlotte County World Series teams.
