Death By Inconvenience

Written by on January 26, 2017 at 12:26 pm

logo-crotts-stephen58,198,009. That’s the number of children killed by abortion in the U.S. since abortion was first legalized in 1973.  58,198,009.

To gain some perspective on that cold, clinical number, consider that the combined death rate in the U.S. from cancer and heart disease is 1.2 million per year. Abortion has claimed 1.4 million lives annually.

The highest death toll from natural calamities in America is the 1900 Galveston, Texas, hurricane. 12,000 people died. Abortion captures that death toll every four days.

Worldwide, the numbers are even more staggering. Since 1973, there have been over 1,345,907,865 abortions. Compare that figure with war, earthquakes, and plagues to gain perspective.

An estimated 258,327,000 deaths in the twentieth century resulted from wars. World Wars I and  II, Korea, Vietnam, etc. Yet the number of deaths from abortion exceeds that by more than 5 times.

During the 12 year Nazi regime’s reign in Europe over 11 million Jews were slain. By the same token during any 12 year stretch since 1973 in America, over 16.8 million babies were aborted.

The greatest killing epidemic the world has ever known was the mid-fourteenth century bubonic plague which killed an estimated 50 million people in Europe.  That figure is small compared to 1.3 billion abortions worldwide since 1980.

Just before she died, Mother Teresa of Calcutta said to the United States, “You are a destroyed country. For when a nation kills her own children, what is left to destroy?”

We are dying for many reasons: disease, murder, war, famine, old age. But the biggest reason by far is abortion. It is the most destructive force in history.
