Dear Pilgrim…

Charles Kuralt, after years of crisscrossing America with television’s ON THE ROAD feature, observed, “It does no harm just once in a while to acknowledge that the whole country isn’t in flames, that there are people in the country besides politicians, entertainers, and criminals.”

word-Stephen CrottsThere are good mothers who pamper and nurture their babies. There are dads, husbands, who lead their households firmly, but with gentleness. There are honest workers down at the mill, over at the factory, and in the bakery. There are single men and women, their passions under control, who find extra time and fulfillment in ministry. Today, Johnny delivered his papers on time again; a plumber fixed an elderly widow’s pipes at no charge. And Jan’s agreed to teach a Sunday School class this year. Six years ago she was a desperate alcoholic.

Sometimes it’s the tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, and hurricanes that gather all the publicity. Yet the real forces that shape our world are the spring showers, the warming sunshine, the soft breezes.

So many unsung heroes who do their jobs, pay their bills, and love quietly…The world may never notice, but we can! And God does!

For in that soon and coming day our Lord will turn to those on His right and say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your Master!”
