Davis 29 Points Leads Central Over Cumberland

The Central Chargers Varsity Boy’s Basketball team has been on a roll over the last few games as they avenged an earlier loss to Buckingham, took down rival Nottoway in a close victory and then traveled to Cumberland where they got a huge win over the Dukes to move toward the top of the Conference standings.

CHS BoysAgainst Cumberland, Central would get off to a great start in the first quarter behind the offense of Jeremiah Davis who has been on a scoring tear lately. He has been scoring over 20 points per game in the last few wins and added 29 in the win over Cumberland.

Central surged ahead 20-11 at the end of the first eight minutes and went to the half leading 29-23.

The third quarter would be huge for Central as they got good defense and balanced scoring with Brandon Scott, Andrew Howard and Daryl Jones all helping Davis on the offensive end. Central would outscore Cumberland 20-10 in the third quarter after some offensive and defensive adjustments by the Central coaches.

In the fourth quarter, Central would maintain their earlier lead and cruise to a 64-47 victory. Davis was the leading scoring among both teams with 29 points, while Scott added 8 points, Howard scored 7 and Jones scored 5. Raymond Alexander also had a good night on the boards for the Chargers.
