Crewe P.D. Gets New Ballistic Vests

vestsChief A.A. Booth, II is pleased to announce that the Crewe Police Department has received seven Level IIIA ballistic vests through the “Protect the Protector Program.”

Officer safety is paramount in law enforcement and the ballistic vests provide officers with protection in dangerous situations. The ballistic vests the department received provide some of the best possible protection being offered in ballistic vests today. A police officer dies every 53 hours in the line of duty, so having this life-saving equipment is imperative for our officers.

Due to tight budget restraints, many of our officers have been wearing expired vests or no vests at all. Thanks to the generosity of Moose International, a grant from the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, and the Safe Surfin’ Foundation, officers are now equipped with some of the highest quality ballistic protection available and at absolutely no cost to the Town of Crewe. This program was facilitated by Sheriff Mike Brown of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Bedford, Va. and directed by Robin Sundquist, Executive Assistant to Sheriff Brown.
