CHARLOTTE COUNTY – Once again Charlotte County Schools are excelling in education.

School Superintendent, Nancy Leonard told board of supervisors members last week that Randolph Henry High School is fully accredited and scored even higher than last year in all four academic areas. “We have recently received the results of our state assessments and RHHS received a pass rate of 87 percent or higher in Math, English, History and Science.” said Leonard.

In addition, Central Middle School is again one of few middle schools in the commonwealth that has received full accreditation. According to Leonard, Eureka Elementary and Phenix Elementary are also fully accredited.

Though Bacon District Elementary School did not meet full accreditation status they have improved on math scores to meet the state requirements and have made great strides in making gains in its reading performance. “ Because of the great gains made by Bacon District, it is being considered by Virginia Department of Education to become a reconstituted school.” added Leonard.

The board of education accreditation regulations define reconstitution as a process to improve instruction and raise student achievement by restructuring a school’s governance, faculty, instructional program and/or student population.

“These schools are on a trajectory toward achieving full accreditation within three years,” Superintendent of Public Instruction Steven R. Staples said. “And they have made significant internal changes that represent a clear commitment to improved performance and substantive reform of practice.”

“I could not be more proud of Charlotte County Schools,” added Leonard. “We could not have achieved these successes without the support from the community and from the Board of Supervisors.”
