CHARLOTTE COUNTY – May 2017 will mark the 47th year the residents of Charlotte County have been able to count on the volunteers who give of their time and training to man Rescue Squad vehicles in time of need.

It goes without saying that without the generous contributions from county individuals and businesses, the Rescue Squad would not be able to provide the high quality of emergency medical services that they do.

There are three stations active in the county at this time – Station 1 in Keysville, Station 2 in Wylliesburg, and Station 8 in Phenix. These locations provide an ambulance within approximately eight miles of the majority of the county citizens. As such, response times are much improved.

The cost of training and outfitting volunteers for three stations has increased considerably over the years, as well as the cost of operating and maintaining the ambulances. The Rescue Squad continues to strive to provide the highest quality emergency medical services possible within its budget.

Responding to 1,887 calls and traveling 130,203 miles in 2016 required 8,869 man hours of response time. These numbers do not include the hours of training and traveling the all-volunteer squad put in.

The Squad’s Annual Fund Drive began on May 1 and will continue until August 31.
