County Employee Recognized 1LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors recently honored a county employee for his efforts both locally and on the state level.

Ray Elliott began working for Lunenburg County as the Chief Animal Control Officer in 2014 and continues to make his mark in that area of local services. He started a campaign to help raise money to spay and neuter pets in the area by spending the night in a dog kennel at the Lunenburg County Animal Shelter. Through the years he has surpassed his goals with over $15,000 in yearly contributions while making the sacrifice to be away from family on Thanksgiving night when the event takes place.

In addition to that, he has helped state officials in investigations that involved animals in the area. State Attorney General officials called Elliott professional, passionate and hard working. They also stated, “Ray Elliott exemplifies what an animal control officer should be” and said that he was one of the best officers in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Elliott said that he was honored to be recognized for his work, but was quick to point to Noyse King, who works in the Animal Control Department, his family and county officials as all being integral in his achievements.
