Corrine Thompson Hurt Obituary

Our   beloved mother Corrine Thompson Hurt departed this life Friday, February 10, 2017 at Wayland Rehab Center in Keysville, Virginia. She was born in Charlotte County, Virginia on August 1, 1931, to the late James and Marion Thompson.

Corrine received her formal education in the Lunenburg County Public Schools. She joined the Gill Hill Baptist Church at an early age where she remained a faithful member until her death. There she was the mother of the church for the last decade.

Corrine was united in marriage to Nat Hurt, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union nine children were born. In addition to her husband Nat, she was also predeceased by four of her daughters, Darolene Johnson, Joe Ann Walton, Marion “Gracie” Eubanks, and Dorothy Underwood; two of her grandchildren, Clara “Rondell” Walton, and Ricky Hurt; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Hurt; a son-in law, Harvey Eubanks; great granddaughter, Erin “Mouse” Hurt; and eight of her siblings.

Corrine leaves to cherish loving  memories  her sister, Mary Helen Hicks (James) of Keysville, Virginia; two sons: Nat Hurt, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia and Larry Hurt (Lorinda) of Victoria, Virginia; three daughters:  Margaret  Hurt (George) of  Keysville,  Virginia,  Diana  Phillips  (James) and Angela Hurt, all of Richmond, Virginia; twenty-three grandchildren, including a  devoted  granddaughter, Debra Lynn; twenty-three great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Donald Underwood and Andre’ Johnson; caregivers, Daphine Fowlkes and Lashonda  Brown;  and  the members of Gill Hill Baptist Church.

Corrine was known for laughing and joking. She also enjoyed working in the church.  Corrine’s funeral was held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Keysville. Her new friends in Christ at Faith, Love, Fellowship Church, Pastor Altony Foote in Richmond, Virginia shared precious memories. Wilson Funeral Home in Keysville, Va. was in charge of arrangements.
