A new four-story 106 room hotel is scheduled to be built in Farmville with construction to “start Right away.” town manager, Gerald Spates announced last week during the Farmville Town Council Meeting.

According to Spates, the hotel called Tru by Hilton will be located at the former site of the Lutheran Church between South Main Street and Perry Drive.

“I think this is going to be a nice addition to Farmville.” Spates said.

The hotel is scheduled to be complete in 12 months and will not have a restaurant.

“We are incredibly excited to be launching Tru by Hilton, which will serve the largest segment of the hotel market, but a segment where no brand is meeting guests’ current needs,” said Christopher J. Nassetta, president and CEO, Hilton Worldwide. “Tru will provide guests with a high-quality, contemporary, consistent and fresh experience at a great value for customers.

During the meeting, Farmville Mayor, David Whitus pointed out, “I think this speaks volumes about what’s going on here in Farmville.” noting that there is also another hotel, The holiday Inn Express set to be constructed in Farmville as well.
