LUNENBURG – The young Central Chargers Golf team continues to improve and add wins as the season progresses. The Chargers defeated a pair of JRD teams last week as they hosted Buckingham and Cumberland at Lunenburg Country Club in Kenbridge.
The Chargers were able to put together a strong team effort and finished the day with an overall total of 180. The Cumberland Dukes finished second with a score of 211, and Buckingham finished with a team score of 214.
Low shooter for the match was Chase Grubbs of Cumberland with a 35, but the Chargers had consistent play from several team members. The low score for Central were a 41 for Cary Parrish, while Cole Williams shot a 44, Joseph McDaniel scored a 44, and Mason Eliott shot a 51.
The Chargers had a close match earlier that week on Tuesday against Nottoway and Goochland. Final team scores were Nottoway 172, Goochland 175, and Central 183. Low scorers for Central were Cary Parrish 42, Cole Williams 46 , Thomas McDaniel 47 and a 48 for Joseph McDaniel.
