Christmas Parade Returns to Victoria This Friday Night

VICTORIA – Victoria is set to host the annual Lunenburg County Christmas parade this Friday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m.  The Town of Victoria, along with help from the Victoria Police Department and Victoria Fire and Rescue officials, will be organizing the event and helping set lineups as well as overseeing safety measures to ensure a fun and safe night.

After Lunenburg did not have a parade last year, Victoria officials decided to move the event back to the traditional Friday night time slot from the past and will use that along with the Small Town Christmas event to create a weekend of Christmas celebration in the town.

The parade has rotated between Victoria and Kenbridge in the past and the event was coordinated by the Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce, but after that organization decided not to contine the organizing efforts,  the Town of Victoria is coordinating the parade this year.

The parade participants will line up on Tidewater Avenue and then proceed down Court Street to the traffic light, turn right and end at 3rd and Main in front of the fire station. Motorists should be aware of the event and the route that will be taken in order to avoid these areas during the line up and parade.

Organizers say that they currently have registrants that include Girl Scouts, antique cars, VFW, race cars and more entries are coming in.  They stated, “There is still plenty of room and entries can be made through Friday.”

Former Kenbridge Town Manager Donnie Neblett and Former Victoria Town Manager Ken Patterson will be honored as Grand Marshalls of the event.  The parade will also be the Grand Illumination event for the town decorations

If anyone is interested in being in the parade, contact the Town of Victoria at 434-696-2343.
