Farmville Police will be sponsoring a Child Safety Day on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Farmville Police Department, located at 116 N. Main Street.  This event will include fingerprinting of children and a photograph to be saved on a CD, which will be given to their parents.  This CD will be helpful in the event that a child becomes missing.  The program is free and will provide parents with other helpful information.  Gun locks will also be given to parents to help secure firearms in the home.

Blue Ridge Thunder, a law enforcement program located in Bedford County that investigates internet crimes against children, will also be at the event.  Blue Ridge Thunder specializes in arresting people who distribute and/or possess child pornography as well as those who solicit minors for illicit purposes on the internet.  They will provide helpful information to parents to keep their children safe from internet predators.

This event is open to all members of the public and refreshments will be provided.  Parking will be free in the municipal parking lot located on South Street.  Please join the Farmville Police Department and Blue Ridge Thunder on July 22 for this educational program!
