On Wednesday February 10, 2015 Ralph Moore, representing the Charlotte County Industrial Development Authority, was the high bidder on the Shaw Building (formerly Sherwood Brands of Virginia) located on Shaw Drive in Keysville.

Taxes owed to Charlotte County were $9663.00 through December 2014.

Bidding quickly reached $40,000 after which it slowed to bids of $1000 increments until reaching the selling price of $80,000.

According to Patricia Berkeley, County Treasurer, any funds beyond the taxes owed and sale expenses will be held in the Charlotte County Clerk’s Office for two years. During that time additional lien holders or those with possible claims can petition the court for their claims.

Ralph Moore, Chairman of the IDA, said, “We think this is a great opportunity for Charlotte County. Our goal is to put some type of industry in here as quickly as possible. We want to create jobs for the county.”
