While the debate over Standard of Learning testing remains a hot button issue for many, the fact remains that it is still the accepted and, what’s more, required, educational testing tool that is used to judge and rank the progress of students and the effectiveness of the school system that is responsible for their learning.

The S.O.L. test scores have been released for this year and according to sources, Charlotte County ranked #1 in 4 of the 5 subjects: mathematics, science, English – writing and reading, history and social studies within their testing district. Appomattox County scored #1 in the English: Reading category, Charlotte County scored #2. The testing district includes Appomattox, Charlotte, Amelia, Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, Buckingham, Halifax, Brunswick, Nottoway, Prince Edward, Greensville and Cumberland Counties. Congratulations Charlotte County!
