Charlotte Co. Could See New Supervisor, School Board Members

CHARLOTTE CO. – Charlotte County voters will vote next Tuesday to possibly elect a new county supervisor and two new school board members.

The Drakes Branch district Board of Supervisors seat is being sought by three candidates.

Current supervisor Garland “Butch” Hamlett, Jr. is seeking reelection to his seat. However, two other candidates, James Napier and Richard “Rick” Griffith are also vying for the position.

For the seat on the Charlotte County School Board, incumbent Bernadine Johnson is seeking reelection, with JonPaul Berkley also seeking the position for the Bacon-Saxe District.

In the Drakes Branch district, incumbent T.E. “Ned” Locke, Jr. is hoping for reelection with Gloria Talbott also seeking the school board seat.

The following individuals will also appear on the November 3 ballot but are running unopposed.

Clerk of Court: Nan Colley. This is Colley’s first time seeking the position of Clerk of Court. Long-time clerk Stewart Fallen is not seeking reelection this term.

Sheriff, Thomas Jones; Commonwealth’s Attorney, William Green, Jr,; Commissioner of the Revenue, Naisha Carter; Treasurer, Patrica Berkeley; Board of Supervisors – Bacon-Saxe District, Royal Freeman; Board of Supervisors – County Seat, Gary Walker; Board of Supervisors – Cullen-Red House District, Nancy Carwile; School Board,County Seat, Larry Fannon; and School Board for the Cullen-Red House District, Henry Carwile, Jr.
