Chargers take 1 Chargers take 2VICTORIA – The Central Chargers got a big win last week on the road in what Head Coach Mike McGrath called their “best shooting game of the season.”

The Chargers traveled to Buckingham in a second match-up with the Knights. Buckingham took the first game of the series, but Central got revenge last Tuesday with a 65-58 win.

The two teams played well in the first quarter with LJ Watson scoring early for the Chargers. At the end of the first quarter, Central held an 11-9 lead in the game. The second quarter saw a momentum shift to Buckingham with the Knights outscoring Central by 4 and taking a 22-20 lead to halftime.

The second half saw both teams get the offense rolling as Buckingham scored 20 points in the third quarter, but Darryl Jones put up big numbers for Central and kept the game close.

The Chargers trailed by five heading to the final quarter but a strong offensive quarter saw Central outscore Buckingham 28-16 and claim the 65-58 victory. Coach McGrath said that the team had a strong game at the free throw line and that was a big factor in the high offensive output.

Leading Central in scoring was Watson with 27 points while Jones had a big night as well with 26 points for Central.
