chargers-pull-1LUNENBURG – The Central Chargers hosted Bluestone last Friday night for Homecoming and the Barons had upset in their minds early on in this game, but the Chargers eventually wore down and wore out their opponent while cruising to a 35-14 victory.

Bluestone got off to a fast start with an early score, but Raymond Alexander blocked the extra point to keep the score at 6-0. Central answered back quickly with Keenan Anunay and Malik Foster picking up good yardage as Central ran the ball down the field. Foster scored from 8 yards away and a Ben Atkins extra point gave Central the 7-6 lead with ten minutes left in the first quarter.

After good defense from Central, the Chargers offense drove the ball all the way down to the 5 yard line, but Bluestone came up with a big fourth down stop and got the ball back. After a pair of possessions for both teams, Central added their second score of the night on a 15 play drive that saw Foster score from 11 yards out. Atkins added his second extra point and Central had a 14-6 lead with just over four minutes left in the half.

Bluestone used a 60 yard touchdown pass from Tevarius Brooks to Nyier Evans and a two point conversion to tie the game at 14-14 as the two teams went to halftime.

Central got the ball to start the second half and went back to their ground and pound game. Central followed, Kester Long, Garrett Williams, DaQuan Cleaton, Jeffrey Goodwin and Jackson Parsons down the field on a 16 play drive that ended with Jackson Dalton scoring on a 1 yard QB sneak.

With Central leading 21-14, the CHS defense went to work. Dion Graham, Chris Fowler and Keenan Anunay all had stops to force a fourth down play. Sensing the momentum slipping away from them, Bluestone went for it on fourth down, but a pass attempt fell incomplete and Central had the ball back.

Central drove the ball down the field once again but Bluestone stopped the drive near their own goal line. The Central defense kept the Bluestone skill players in check again as Raymond Alexander, Qwazale Jones, and Ben Spencer made plays to get the ball back to the CHS offense.

The Chargers finished off a drive on their next series with Foster scoring his third touchdown of the game to give his team a 28-14 lead. The CHS defense forced a turnover early in the fourth quarter when John McGrath picked off a pass from Brooks.
