Central High School Chargers Take 14-4 Win Over Amelia

VICTORIA – The Central Chargers Varsity baseball team picked up their fifth win of the year last week with a 14-4 victory over Amelia on Friday. Ryan Allard got the victory on the mound for the Chargers while Sterling Currin drove in five runs on the day.

Seth Hall, Ben Currin, Justin Elliott, and Hunter Word all scored in the first inning with Sterling Currin doubling in three runs.

Amelia would cut the 4-0 lead in half in the second inning and tie it at 4-4 in the top of the third. From there it was all Central as they picked up four runs in the bottom of the third. Ben Currin singled, Elliott walked, and Sterling Currin ripped a double to score two. Connor Mattox reached on a fielder’s choice and later scored to put the Chargers up 8-4.

Central added four more runs in the fourth inning as Ethan Currin, Allard, Elliott, and Word all scored to put the Chargers up 12-4. They ended the game in the fifth inning as rain started to fall when Hall and Currin reached base and scored to make the final 14-4. 

Allard got the win on the mound while striking out five.
