Carolyn Sue Cox Layne Obituary

Carolyn Sue Cox Layne, of South Hill, Virginia, died Wednesday July 19, 2017.  Ms. Layne was born 72 years ago and raised in Farmville, Virginia by her mother Katherine B. Cox.  After marrying, Carolyn resided in Cullen, Va.  Carolyn earned an associate degree in Business Administration from SVCC, then relocated to South Hill, where she worked for the Virginia Dept. of Transportation until she retired.

Carolyn was happiest surrounded by friends and family.  She is survived by Tommy Layne and wife Crystal of Farmville, Va; Mary Layne Keifer and husband Tom of Charlotte, NC; Edward Layne and wife Sharon of Cullen, Va; and Christopher Layne of South Hill, Va. Carolyn cherished her six grandchildren: Katie Keifer, Michael Keifer, Macy Sykes, Adam Layne, Joseph Layne and Kayla Claiborne.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, July 28 at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home, South Hill, Va.  Visitation will follow the service.  A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, Va.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the South Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
