Car Launches Into Brick Building

On Monday, April 27 at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, Drakes Branch Fire and Rescue, and the Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Main St. in Drakes Branch.

When dispatched units arrived on scene, it was discovered that a white 1991 Ford Tempo, driven by Ernest H. Davis of Black Walnut Rd. in Halifax County, had collided with a brick wall on Drakes Main St. According to witnesses, the elderly gentleman was sitting in a parking space when the vehicle suddenly launched forward into the building.

Davis was transported by MedFlight for injuries sustained in the accident. Minor damage was done to the building. Trooper J.D. Gregory was the investigating officer in this incident.
