For the last time, Eric Jones, a 2015 graduate of Randolph-Henry High School, took to the field as a Randolph-Henry Statesman and competed in the Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) All-Star baseball game. The game was held on Wednesday, July 8 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., where Jones received MVP honors for the West due to his stellar performance on the field. Throughout the course of the game, Jones scored one run while earning three hits and stealing two bases.
The VHSCA explained, “Each year state championship coaches from each region come together to select the best Seniors to represent the East and West of Virginia in baseball, girls and boys basketball, football, girls and boys soccer, softball, and girls volleyball.” Randolph-Henry High School baseball coach, J.R. Allen, commented that Jones was a hard-working young man and overall a great kid. Additionally, he plays the game the right way and is fun to be around.
On April 22, 2015, Jones signed an official letter of intent to play baseball at Gardner-Webb University this fall, located in Boiling Springs, NC. The Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs ended their 2015 season on May 15 with a final standing of 22-31.
Eric Jones is 18 years old and resides in Charlotte Court House, Va.
