Body Found in Field Identified

Prince Edward County Man Found Dead 

ts1On Thursday, August 1, a farmer in Lunenburg County made a grisly discovery next to a tobacco field near 5700 Davis Lowground Road.

At approximately 10 a.m., the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene to investigate what appeared to be human remains.

Sheriff Arthur Townsend called for investigators from the Virginia State Police’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit in Appomattox. The scene was processed by the State Police and the remains were moved to a lab in Richmond for identification and autopsy.

On Friday, 45-year-old Keith Philandas White, Jr. of Farmville was reported missing by his family. He had been gone for several days.

Late Friday, the lab in Richmond positively identified the remains as those of Keith White. His family was notified and funeral arrangements have been made for Friday, August 9.

The Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident as an unexplained death.Representatives of the Sheriff’s Office indicated that they were waiting for the medical examiner to determine a cause of death before designating the case as a murder investigation or otherwise.
