Birthday Party Turns Deadly

NOTTOWAY – Nottoway Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police are investigating an incident in which two individuals were shot in the parking lot at the Country Inn located on Route 460 near the Dinwiddie and Nottoway County Line. One of these individuals has died.

The Nottoway Sheriff’s office received multiple 911 phone calls relating to the shooting at 1:58 a.m. on November 11, 2017. One of the individuals was transported by a Nottoway County ambulance to Centra Hospital in Farmville and the other was flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond. Those in attendance were there for a birthday party, numbering as many as 50 to 70 people.

Deputies from Dinwiddie County along with Virginia State Troopers and town officers from Blackstone and Crewe assisted Nottoway County authorities with the gathered crowd. Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department was also on scene assisting.

The name of one individual is not being released at this time due to further notification of family members. Alan Demar Bradshaw, age 30, of Blackstone, was identified as the individual who passed away.
