Benefit Stew Planned Saturday, December 5 for Nichole Thomas

Stew Master Melvin Woodson of fort Mitchell will man the stew pot on Saturday December 5th making his famous Brunswick stew. To preorder call (434) 210-8328 or stop by the Southside Messenger Office between 11:00am and 12:00pm.   All proceed will benefit Nicole Thomas, granddaughter of Leon and Earlean Woodson of Fort Mitchell and Ms. Willie Mae Thomas of Kenbridge. 

 Nicole would like to thank everyone for supporting her and teammates during the travel season that started in January and ended in June.  Her team won First Place at the Winter Bump in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and K2 Wildness at the Smokes in Sevierville, TN.  They also had impressive finishes in Las Vegas, Denver and Orlando.   Ms. Thomas is now a senior at James River High School.  She helped her school team win their Conference Championship and was named to the All-Conference First Team.

Nicole will be playing volleyball for 2016 travel season at Uturn Sports Performance Academy in Richmond Virginia on their 18 and under team.   The team will travel across the country to compete in high level tournaments in Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta, Pittsburg, Huston and Orlando. This is Nicole’s final competitive year at U-Turn before moving on to play collegiate volleyball at Baylor University, a Division I program in Waco Texas.
