The Bluestone Barons came into the Conference 34 Tournament riding high after winning the James River District and claiming the number one seed. A bye in the first round would see Bluestone matched up against Amelia for a chance to go to the finals and Regional Playoffs.

BluestoneMuch like the regular season, the athleticism, high pressure defense and fast paced offense of Bluestone was more than Amelia could  handle as the Barons claimed an 80-65 win behind the scoring of their big three, Antwan Tucker, Keith Patrick and Najawuan Davis.

The game was close early on with Amelia scoring well and actually leading 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw Bluestone ratchet up the defense as Keith Patrick had several steals, but the game was close at halftime with the Barons leading 31-28.

The third quarter would find Bluestone getting the offense going as Tucker and Davis worked the inside and outside of the Raiders defense to push their teams lead to five. The final quarter would be an even more impressive offensive outburst from Bluestone as they scored 27 points and pulled away from a gritty Amelia team to get the 15 point win.

Tucker would lead all scorers with 25 points, while Davis added 20 points. Keith Patrick had a great all around game at the point guard spot with 18 points, 6 steals and 7 assists.

Bluestone takes on Prince Edward in the Conference final this week. Look for game coverage and highlights next week.
