At it again – Read charged with convenience store robbery

FARMVILLE – Charlene Read, age 49, of Farmville, has been arrested and charged with Robbery and Grand Larceny following the robbery of the Stop-In Food Store at 2003 South Main Street in Farmville.

read mugshotAccording to the Town of Farmville Police Department, at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, police responded to the Stop-In Food Store for a reported robbery.  The clerk advised that a white female entered the store alone and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect did not display any weapons but told the clerk she had a gun.  After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the scene. There were no injuries.

In addition to last weekend’s arrest, Read was arrested and charged last fall on 28 charges stemming from breaking and entering incidences that occurred in both Charlotte and Prince Edward counties.

Read is currently being held without bond at Piedmont Regional Jail.
