As of Monday, August 25, Apex Day Support Services in Charlotte Court House has expanded their facilities to over 4,700 square feet!

According to owner Lorene Wendelin, Apex Day Support Services was previously housed in a 900 sq. ft. section of Charlotte County Fitness & Rec.   “We just outgrew our space, which is a really good problem to have,” said Wendelin.  Now, the facility has expanded with a new all-open space to include an arts/crafts area, kitchen, media area, gym equipment and a separate dining area.  “We have a lot more space to move around,” commented Wendelin.

Based on information retrieved from their website, “Apex Day Support Services provides day support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  We have been licensed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.” Wendelin explained that Apex Day Support officially opened in March of 2012 in memory of a young man named “William” who lived with her family for 15 years.  William passed away in December.

Apex Day Support serves the counties of Appomattox, Charlotte, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg and Prince Edward.  Currently there are 10 clients who attend the facility, 8 full-time and 2 part-time.
