Apex Day Support Services located in Charlotte Court House is proud to announce that their new pre-vocational job skills program has been receiving an excellent reception from local businesses in the county.

Under this program, clients are placed in local businesses based on their interests, which enables them to learn valuable job skills.  According to Sarah Lord, the clients enjoy the friendships they have with the business owners and they receive perks for their service.

The job skills program evolved last summer and has been growing ever since. Lord explained that the clients spend about 30 minutes to an hour at the business learning skills and so far they have placed clients with Lazy Daisy, Polar Express, Village Drive-in and Tail Waggers.  Lord expressed that they have been truly grateful for the way the community has embraced the program.

In addition to the jobs skills program, the clients at Apex Day Support Services make an effort to help out whenever they can.  Recently, they participated in the county litter pick-up at the Charlotte Court House Ball Field and they occasionally transport books between the Keysville and Charlotte Court House library branches.

According to their website, “Apex Day Support Services provides day support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have been licensed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. We are committed to providing the highest quality services.”

Apex Day Support Services serves the counties of Appomattox, Charlotte, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg and Prince Edward.
