Annual Farmville Fireworks to Continue; May Add Labor Day Display

During last Wednesday’s Farmville Town Council meeting, members voted to continue to hold the town’s annual July 3 fireworks celebrations.

The town currently also has a fireworks show in May during the annual Heart of Virginia Festival, and there had been a discussion to possibly moving the July fireworks to Labor Day.

During the meeting, Town Manger Gerald Spates told members that he had spoken with Perry Carrington, who organizes the fireworks events and that Carrington was “very adamant that he would like to keep it on the third of July.”

On a motion by council member Sally Thompson, the town will continue to hold the annual July 3 fireworks and, if funds allow, a Labor Day fireworks celebration as well.
