Annette Marshall-Hamlett Obituary

annette hamlett obitBeloved sister Mrs. Annette Marshall-Hamlett departed this life at the age of fifty-seven.

Annette Marie Marshall-Hamlett was born on October 31, 1960 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Davie H. Marshall and Annie Eppes-Marshall and due the early passing of her mother, Annette and her siblings were reared by uncle and aunt, Mr. Jessie Craig Sr. and Mrs. Leeanna Eppes-Craig. She was educated in the Lunenburg public schools.  She also furthered her education by graduating from the Southside Skill Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

She accepted Christ and joined Macedonia Baptist Church and remained faithful to the end. She worked as a faithful usher and was due to train new junior ushers the Sunday she passed.

Annette was married to Kenneth Lee Hamlett 35 years and to this union a daughter was born, Nakisha Deshawn Hamlett who preceded her in death. Annette loved people and if she saw a need, she would try to fix it. She was very compassionate, especially to kids and the elderly.

She was employed Burkeville Veneer, Powhatan Correctional Center and Nottoway Correctional Center and after 25 years she retired.  After her retirement, she would say, “I am working more than the jobs I had.” Annette became a taxi service, baby sitter, and volunteer at the local food bank, constantly going to check  on the sick, etc.

Along with Annette’s parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters David (Juliette Williams) Marshall; Roscoe Wayne Marshall, Nathaniel Donnel Marshall, Jessie E. Craig, Jr., Linda Craig-Ghee, Betty Hamlett-Jennings, and Ruby Mamie Hamlett-Marshall.

Annette leaves to cherish loving memory her loving husband, Kenneth Hamlett; sisters and brothers, Evangelist Carolyn Goode (Paul) of Saxe Va., Ms. Sandra Marshall of Keysville,Va., Evangelist Rosa (Richard) Fowlkes, Elder Ray (Evangelist, Virgina) Craig, Mrs. Nancy (James) Cheatam, all of Keysville Va.,  Eugene (Evelyn) Hamlett, Paul (Evangelist, Virginia) Hamlett, Christine H. Marrow, Ernestine (Deanie) Walton, Joseph Hamlett, and her girlfriends that she called Sister, Mrs. Shirley Johnson, Mrs. Millie Coles, Ms. Peggy Williams, 15 nieces, eight nephews, seven great-nieces, six great-nephews, the personnel of Powhatan and Nottaway Correctional Centers, and a host of cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
