sexoffenderCHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – The Southside Messenger reported last week that Brian Boise of Charlotte County had been arrested on rape charges involving a minor.

The Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office released additional information this week in the following press release.

“Thirty-one felony indictments were returned by a Lunenburg County grand jury as true bills against Brian Devon Boise, a former Lunenburg County resident, on June 5, 2017, charging him with 18 counts of Rape of a Minor Under Age 13 Years and 13 counts of Carnal Knowledge of a Minor Under Age 15 Years, but More than 12 Years of Age.

The indictments allege that the offenses occurred in Lunenburg County from February, 2012 until August, 2014.

Boise was most recently residing in Charlotte Court House, Virginia, but resided in Lunenburg County when the offenses allegedly occurred.

Boise had already been arrested on the previous Friday night, June 2, at his residence in Charlotte Court House on a warrant for Rape brought by the Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office.  Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement said the Sheriff was concerned that Boise was aware of the accusations and may have been a threat.  Clement said the warrant will be ‘nol prossed’ (dismissed) in district court, because the indictments include the offense that was the basis for the arrest warrant.

Boise was advised of his right to an attorney for the arrest warrant on Wednesday in General District Court and stated that he intended to hire his own attorney.  He will be in Circuit Court on June 12 for advisement on the indictments.

The rape charges carry a potential sentence of life in prison, and the Carnal Knowledge charges carry a potential sentence of up to 10 years each.
