Wake Up America! Words and Prayers of Hope Spoken at Annual Prayer Breakfast

RED OAK – The Charlotte County community, along with neighboring guests, celebrated the 2016 National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5 at Red Oak Excavating in Red Oak. This marked the seventh year that Christian citizens of Charlotte County and surrounding areas gathered to pray for our nation with a special ceremony and breakfast.

The event’s theme was titled “Wake Up America,” which emphasized the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Fathers in reverence of His Holy Name.

This year’s event began at 6 a.m. with the blessing of the food, offered by Rev. Adam Blosser, followed by special music presentations by Alex Haskins and Morris and Maurice Clark.

Following the meal, the presentation of flags was presented by American Legion Post 260 Honor Guard, the National Anthem led by Alex Haskins and the Pledge to the the American and Christian Flags by Pastor Denis Fritz.

The invocation was offered by Pastor Robert Perrin and guests were welcomed by Gene “Red Oak” Hall, Jr. Following the welcome, introduction of Theme and Prayer was presented by Rev. Doug Gibson along with special music by Papa’s Angels of Hebron United Methodist Church.

Recognitions and prayers of government and business, our military, our educators and media and of family and church were presented by Mayor of Charlotte Court House, Stephen Walker, Rev. Ryan Williams, Pastor Jerry Jordan, Rev. Randy Baisey, Nancy Leonard, Pastor Denis Fritz and Pastor Charles Maney. Pray for America “Wake Up America” and the benediction was offered by Pastor Billy Jack Tatum and the retirement of colors was presented by American Legion Post 260. To end the special ceremony, dismissal was given by Gene Hall Jr.

The MC for this year’s event, which saw approximately 200 guests, was Ralph “Red” Moore.
