KENBRIDGE – Following approval from Kenbridge Town Council members in September, the town held their second “Trunk or Treat” event along S. Broad Street this past Saturday night and the area was packed full of participants.
Kenbridge Town Manager Robyn Fowler, who was at the trunk or treat, stated, “I thought it was a great event with a large turnout.” She also noted that there were many candy and money donations from local citizens and groups turned into the Town Office in support of the event.
With the hundreds of kids at the event on Halloween night and also a large trick-or-treating crowd along 5th Avenue in Kenbridge, officers from Kenbridge Police Department and The Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office helped ensure that the children were safe.
This year, Terry Pasco and Lunenburg County Ministries asked Kenbridge Town Council members to consider once again helping and allowing this event to take place as a way to hold a safe town event on Halloween. This time, the area along S. Broad Street stretching in the direction of the third town stoplight was also blocked off to give participants an even larger venue.
Several participants noted that this allowed their children to trick-or-treat without the worry of having to watch for traffic or walking long distances to homes.
Kenbridge Police Chief Raymond Hite and Victoria Police Chief Keith Phillips both indicated that Halloween night saw no incidents and both towns had a fun and safe holiday.
